Fingerprinting of digital documents
Linköping University, Department of Electrical Engineering. Linköping University, The Institute of Technology.
2001 (English)Doctoral thesis, monograph (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

The research area of fingerprinting, or uniquely marked digital copies, is wide. We give a general model for the fingerprinting problem and point out some of the choices you need to consider before choosing the scenario for your fingerprinting system.

In the following chapters we then consider specific questions in some of the possible scenarios. We start with defining the pirates' strategies when a binary code is used and we also show that the binary fingerprinting system is a matrix game in a game theoretical sense. In the same scenario we also analyse two specific code structures as fingerprinting codes, the binary linear code and the sorted code.

After that we analyse a fingerprinting system with only erasures and construct a binary code for this scenario. Finally we consider a scenario where no erasures are allowed and construct a non-binary code for this scenario.
