Abstract [en]

The past fifteen years have been marked by framework driven standardization of governance of digitalization in public organizations. The concept maintenance objects (förvaltningsobjekt) has its theoretical roots in the four-layer architecture but takes as its starting point the current business conducted in an organization. Organization of digitalization using maintenance objects thus inevitably leads to a focus on the prevailing motley digital landscape and counteracts strategy driven by vision. At the Swedish Prison and Probation Service we therefore decided to put to the test the concept of business capability, but soon discovered a conceptual ambiguity. We describe our work toward creating conceptual clarity by using an actual case from Swedish Prison and Probation Service. This is a work in progress.

The presentation will be in Swedish, however, for those of you who do not speak Swedish there will be an English-using video playlist made available during the lecture.
