Abstract [en]

This paper deals with the treatment of children at the coastal sanatorium at Apelviken in the early 20th century. It explores the age, sex, geographical distribution, and length of stay of these patients as well as the diagnoses. The selection of treatment, as well as its implication for the creation of identity are also discussed. The material is analyzed within the framework of the interaction of society and its limitations, medical science and the physical world of infectious diseases.
