Abstract [en]

This paper deals with the debate concerning the treatment of non-pulmonary tuberculosis at the beginning of the 20th century. Heliotherapy, hydrotherapy and surgical interventions each had their advocates, although a combinaton of treatment was often used. The debate among Swedish physicians was informed not only by their colleagues among their northern neighbors, but also by their readings and their study visits to the continent. the factors involved in the tranmission of knowledge are discussed.
