Towards Creating Workflows On-the-Fly and Maintaining Them Using the Semantic Web: The sButler Project at Linköping University
2003 (English)In: The Twelfth International World Wide Web Conference, 20-24 May 2003, Budapest, Hungary, New York: ACM , 2003Conference paper (Refereed)
In the sButler project (Semantic Web Butler) at Linköpingsuniversitet, Sweden, we examine the modeling and instantiation ofworkflows based on Web services (services described in a rule-basedlanguage). The aim of the project, which is part of the SwedishSemantic Web initiative, is to support on-the fly creation ofworkflows and their subsequent maintenance. Our sButler agent willmanage workflows and Web services modeled as Petri Nets, use thelanguage facilities provided by the Semantic Web, and employ a newpush-and-pull protocol to handle communication with other sButlers.
