Safe public e-services – an issue of trust and organisation: Possible research outlines for a licentiate thesis
2008 (English)Conference paper (Other academic)
Developing public e-services is one of the main challenges facing public authorities and organizations with the emerging information society. In order for this development to reach its aims of effectiveness and public participaton, information security and trust are vital issues. This paper discusses possible research questions and perspectives for the structuring of my licentiate thesis within this field, presenting a very first outline for possible aims. The research is a part of the project “Safe public e-services – an issue of trust and organisation”, financed by the Swedish Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). The aim of the overall research project is to analyse how and why “secure” public e-services are constructed (both as a social and technical activity) within different practices. The research project will involve several case studies, of which one will be mine. This paper provides general suggestions for possible analytical approaches and how these can be applied to a number of possible case studies. In turn, a number of broad research questions are generated.
