Development of method of analysis for decomposition of chemical products (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis was to develop and optimize a method of analysis for combustion of organic chemical products, followed by an ion chromatographic quantitative analysis. This was to be achieved with the decomposition equipment IKA AOD 1. The aim was to receive a precise and repeatable method that would be able to be applied to the process of qualification and technical marking of chemical products at the company, OKG AB in Oskarshamn. A complete instruction for the decomposition equipment and the method of analysis was written. A number of parameters were chosen from the general method of the combustion equipment, which then was tested parallel with a simultaneous development of an appropriate ion chromatographic method. The optimized method of analysis was achieved, among other things, by ventilating the equipment before combustion, leaching filters, and through usage of MilliQ-water as the absorption solution. An ion chromatographic method for combustion samples was developed. The resulting method of analysis had a repeatability of approximately 100 % with low spreading. The yield of chlorine, bromine and fluorine was about 90 to 110 %, for sulfur the yield was too low, approximately 60 %. Analysis and comparison of chemical products gave higher contents of analytes than the obtained results from the external chemistry company. Even though there’s room for improvement, the method is found sufficient enough to be used for the desired purpose.
