LFV Teknik is a part of the LFV Group. They work as internal consultants with competence in for example simulation techniques. When the company is preparing to build a simulation model for the study of passenger flows through an airport terminal, a large amount of information about the system is needed. Usually, the model is needed quickly, which means that the time for building it is short. Furthermore, some parts of the system may not be directly in line with the main purpose of the study, which might make it difficult to motivate data collection costs. This project will contribute in this area, by constructing general statistical distributions of the check-in time and the capacity for the security control. The distributions can then be used in other models. The project will also include a discussion about how and when a passenger arrive the airport terminal.
A simulation model should be built and validated against an existing airport terminal. As a base for this project, Terminal 4 in Stockholm - Arlanda Airport has been used. The passenger’s arrival time to the terminal is collected from the LFV Group statistical database. Data collections for the check-in times and the capacity calculations of the security control are performed using a stopwatch. When the statistical distribution is calculated, a large amount of data is necessary. All data then have to be analysed and implemented in the simulation model.
As one result of the project, statistical distributions for the check-in times are given. A capacity calculation of the security control is also discussed. Furthermore, the report includes theory of simulation techniques and methods to perform verification and validation.

LFV Teknik ¨ar en avdelning vid luftfartsverket. Avdelningen fungerar som ett konsultf¨oretag och genomf¨or projekt inom bland annat mark- och el-projektering samt inom simulering. D°a f¨oretaget ska bygga en simuleringsmodell f¨or att studera till exempel passagerarfl¨odena i en flygplatsterminal beh¨ovs mycket indata. En modell m°aste ofta konstrueras under en mycket kort tidsperiod vilket g¨or kvantitativ indatasamling om¨ojlig. Vissa parametrar ber¨or inte direkt den del som ska studeras och det kan d¨arf¨or vara sv°art att motivera den kostnad indatasamlingen medf¨or. Detta examensarbete ska resultera i skattade f¨ordelningar f¨or incheckningstid samt en utredning om kapacitet f¨or s¨akerhetskontrollen och backsp¨arrarna. Vidare ska ¨aven anl¨andandem¨onstret och f¨ardmedlet till terminalen studeras. De skattade f¨ordelningarna ska kunna anv¨andas som indata vid framtida modellbyggen.
F¨or att data ska kunna valideras byggs en simuleringsmodell och n¨odv¨andiga indata samlas. Terminal 4 p°a Arlanda flygplats har anv¨ants som f¨orebild till denna simuleringsmodell. H¨ar har ¨aven indata samlats. Data som ankomstf¨ordelningar och andelen resande med de olika f¨ardmedlen har h¨amtats och analyserats fr°an Luftfartsverkets egna statistikprogram medan tider f¨or incheckning har m¨atts med tidtagarur. F¨or att de statistiska f¨ordelningarna ska kunna skattas har omfattande m¨atningar av incheckning och s¨akerhetskontrollen genomf¨orts. Samtliga indata har d¨arefter analyserats och implementerats i en simuleringsmodell.
Resultat av studien inneh°aller statistiska f¨ordelningar f¨or incheckningstider, kapacitetsm°att f¨or s¨akerhetskontroll och backsp¨arr. Det finns ¨aven en teoridel inneh°allande simuleringsmetodik samt beskrivningar av metoder f¨or validering och verifiering.
