Med den trådlösa teknologins framväxt har även antalet studier gällande dess möjliga inverkan på människors hälsa ökat markant i antal. Under en längre tid har det funnits professionella mätinstrument på marknaden som mäter styrkan hos de elektromagnetiska fält som trådlösa applikationer ger ifrån sig. Ofta är de mycket noggranna, men samtidigt avancerade, dyra och inriktar sig i första hand till personer som använder sig av mätinstrumentet i sitt yrke.

Författarna fick i uppdrag av Bo Wisenfeldt på HIPS AB att utveckla ett handhållet mätinstrument för snabb mobil detektering av elektromagnetiska fälts styrka i frekvensbanden för GSM800/900/1800/1900, 3G, WLAN. Det skulle ha privatpersoner som största målgrupp och måste därför hålla ett lågt pris, användarvänligt och fortfarande leverera relativt korrekta mätresultat.

Examensarbetet resulterade i en fullt fungerande prototyp som visar aktuell strålningstäthet i intervallet 0.000001 – 300 mW/m 2 . Rapporten redogör för bakomliggande fysik, den ger även en djupare beskrivning av ingående komponenter och hur instrumentet fungerar i sin helhet. Förhoppningen är att prototypen kommer att användas vidare i utvecklingsprocessen och slutligen ingå i en riktig produkt.

Abstract [en]

The rapid growing development of wireless applications has in recent years also raised the number of studies regarding its affection on the human being. Professional instruments for measurement of the electromagnetic field strength caused by wireless applications have been available on the marked for a number of years. They are often very accurate, but also very advanced, expensive and foremost aimed to persons who are using the instrument in their profession.

The authors of this report were by Bo Wisenfelt at HIPS AB assigned to develop a handheld measuring instrument for quick mobile detection of electromagnetic field strengths at the frequencies; GSM800/900/1800/1900, 3G and WLAN. The target group should be private persons. The instrument must therefore fulfil the criteria of being cheap, user-friendly and still deliver relative correct measuring results.

The major thesis work resulted in a fully working prototype that shows the current electromagnetic field strength in the range 0.000001 – 300 mW/m 2 . The report describes the underlying physics of electromagnetic radiation, it gives a deeper description of containing components and how the instrument works in general. Hopefully the prototype developed during this thesis work will be used a further development process and finally be part of a real product.
