Abstract [en]

Ultra Wideband is a low-power high-speed wireless personal area network (WPAN) technology. Its wide variety of potential application areas attracts a large interest in a wide variety of markets. Its potentially low power consumption in terms of the number of bits transferred per energy unit makes the

technology an interesting feature for the mobile phone market. The report consists of three parts:

-Theory about the UWB WPAN communication technology and high-speed interfaces. -Performance study including a comparison with present technologies focusing on power consumption.- Including Bluetooth and 108.11b. -Hardware and applications surveys focusing on high-speed interfaces and power consumption.
