Implementering och utvärdering av en röntgendetektor för mätning av benskörhet (Swedish)
Abstract [sv]

Examensarbetet är utfört på Demetech AB, Solna och går ut på att implementera en ny röntgendetektor i en befintlig bentäthetsmätare, DXL Calscan. Mätaren används för att upptäcka sjukdomen osteoporos, även kallad benskörhet, genom att mäta bentätheten i hälbenet med hjälp av två röntgenenerginivåer och laser. I rapporten beskrivs osteoporos, röntgenstrålning och mätaren närmare.

Hårdvara i form av ett nytt kretskort har konstruerats och tillverkats för att passa den nya röntgendetektorn. En grundlig utvärdering över hur den nya röntgendetektorn beter sig i systemet har gjorts, där mätningar har utförts med ett flertal olika detektorer för jämförelser. Det har gjorts beräkningar och grafer med hjälp av Matlab utifrån de mätdata som samlats in. Utvärderingen har visat att den nya detektorn är bättre än dess föregångare och rekommendationen blir att byta till den nya.

Abstract [en]

The thesis has been performed at Demetech AB in Solna and the goal was to implement a new X-ray detector in an existing bone densitometer, DXL Calscan. This device is used to find osteoporoses, through measurements of bone mineral density in the calcaneus’s, by using two levels of x-ray energies and laser. Osteoporoses, Xray radiation and DXL Calscan are described closer in this report.

A new circuit board have been constructed and produced to fit this new X-ray detector. A solid evaluation in how this X-ray detector behave in the system have been made. Measurements have been performed with several kinds of X-ray detectors with the goal to compare them. Calculations and graphs have been made with Matlab from the measurement data that have been collected. The new X-ray detector has shown to be better than its precursor. Therefore the recommendation is to change to the new one.
