The Ease of language Understanding (ELU) model: recent advances.
2014 (English)Conference paper, Presentation (Other academic)
Working memory is important for online language processing during conversation. This presentation gives an overview of some recent advances related to a working memory-based language understanding model, the ELU model (Rönnberg et al., 2013). The new ELU model is a meaning prediction system that depends on phonological and semantic interactions in rapid implicit and slower explicit processing mechanisms that both depend on working memory capacity, albeit in different ways. New behavioral and neurocognitive data are presented and some new predictions and clinical implications are outlined.
