Abstract [en]

This thesis is about how outdoor activities has influenced children in the Chinese reality TV show “Where are we going, dad?”. The study was carried out by observing the TV show and interviewing 6 viewers of the show after the release of the first season. The analysis indicates that the TV show reflects part of the obstacles for children to do outdoor activities in China. The children in the TV show received many benefits, both physically and emotionally, by doing outdoor activities. The celebrity fathers were also able to re-assess their roles as parents in the education of their children, using outdoor activities and challenges as education tools.
