Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of my study was based on my informants' experiences to find out and highlight how different study socially active students perceive their mental health from the point of well-being, living conditions and identity.

Student life can include a whole new world for many young people who are in transition from childhood to adulthood. It is fitted in the many changes taking place, both with oneself and one's existence. A break from home, to shape their identity, and to create their own living habits are processes that many young people undergo when they become students. Many are moving away from their hometown and thrown into a new world with new people, new living conditions and new responsibilities. Amidst this passage into the new life as a student, it can easily happen that you forget yourself and how you really feel. Through this study gives an insight into my informants experiences and perceptions of their mental health linked to their living conditions and identity-building. They have given me an insight into how they perceive that their study social engagement has influenced their mental health in relation to how students' living conditions can be significant.
