Abstract [en]

A huge amount of effort in research on Ecodesign has been made in the last decades. Yet, industry faces problems that need scientific and methodological support to solve. This paper first introduces three different cases from different industrial sectors to exemplify those problems. They concern communication of the lifecycle benefits, cooperation especially between designers and operators, and value co-creation by a provider and its customer. Next, a brief review of literature in Ecodesign is presented to clearly show the lack of the needed insights. The research will eventually propose an innovative concept for Ecodesign to support industry to solve these problems. The concept is termed Eco-Co-Design, meaning Ecodesign with Communication, Cooperation, and Co-creation. This paper is a preliminary report to propose the concept, and describes immediate future research to complete this concept proposal.
