Ett strategiskt och systematiskt hållbarhetsarbete har blivit allt viktigare för kommunerna, inte minst inom VA-verksamheten där man måste balansera miljömässiga, ekonomiska och juridiska krav. Projektet har undersökt hur två kommuner hanterar hållbarhetsstyrning. Båda organiserar sin  VA-verksamhet i bolagsform, men de har olika strukturella förutsättningar som påverkar deras möjligheter att bedriva hållbarhetsarbete.

Strategic and systematic sustainability work has become increasingly important for municipalities, not least in the water and wastewater operations, where environmental, economic and legal requirements must be balanced. The project has investigated how two municipalities handle sustainability management. Both organise their water and wastewater operations in the form of companies, but they have different structural conditions that affect their opportunities to conduct sustainability work.
