The experiences of technological development and work in the presence of the future. : – Individuals' experiences and thoughts about technological development in contrast to their work identity in pace with societal changes. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The study aims to investigate how the ongoing development of technology may affect individuals work identity in professions that can be rationalized as technology develops. The study answers four questions that deal with, the impact of technological change on the informant's work, whether the informant believes that this affects their work identity and how the informant themself see that future technological development will affect society. To achieve answers to the issue, a breadth of informants was interviewed in semi-structural interviews where they shared their experiences and thoughts on the subject. The informants' answers are analysed with the help of theorists such as Bauman, Giddens, Goffman, Habermas, Paulsen and Tegmark, then applied to Brynjolfsson & MacAfee, Castells and Schwabs thoughts on the subject. The results of the study show that flexibility has weakened the previously assumed fear of losing oneself in change. Instead, these informants showed enormous flexibility and has embraced a positive view of the technological advances that are expected to come.
