In computer graphics, there are countless tricks and tools that artists and developers use in order to create experiences for others to enjoy. One of these tricks is animated textures that create motion in a static world, minimizing performance requirements on hardware. The creation of animated textures is technical and requires advanced programming knowledge in order to achieve artistic freedom. This thesis explores how animated textures create interesting visual effects and develops a tool that assists artists in creating their own visual effects without any programming involved and uses user interface artifacts from image-editing software in order to create a user-friendly experience to explore the possibilities of animated textures.
