Sammanfattning

Uppsatsen är en studie av motivationen hos deltagare på tolkutbildningen som Arbetarnas bildningsförbund (ABF) höll under år 2020-2022. Syftet med studien är att redogöra för vilka inslag i utbildningen som deltagarna själva upplever som viktiga i syfte att bibehålla motivationen. Vidare analyserar jag också vilka faktorer som påverkar motivationen hos deltagarna under utbildningens gång. Vidare jämför jag resultat från intervjuer med deltagare på ovangivna utbildning med tidigare forskning som har gjorts inom motivation på jämförbara vuxenutbildningar. 

Efter en djupgående undersökning och analys av semi-strukturerade intervjuer av deltagare, vilka antingen deltar eller har deltagit i tolkutbildningen visade resultatet att motivationen varierar under utbildningens olika delkurser. I studiet framkom några faktorer som påverkar motivationen hos deltagarna, negativt och/eller positivt. Dessa faktorer identifierades vara tidigare erfarenhet/igenkännande eller egenintresse, utbildningens upplägg/innehåll och pedagogik samt målmedvetenhet. Med utgångspunkt i de tydliga elementen som har visats i resultatet om vad som påverkar deltagarnas motivation negativt, är det därför behövligt med vidare forskning om hur utbildningen kan genomföras för att öka eller bibehålla motivationen hos deltagarna samt vilket stöd kan det behövas att ge.  

Summary

This essay constitutes a study of the motivation by students of the Course of Interpreters held by the Swedish Workers Organisation (ABF) from 2020-2022. The purpose of this study is to show which were the main factors that contributed to maintaining the students’ motivations throughout their training. In addition, I focus on which factors where the most influential in regards to the durability of their motivation during the course of the entire training. Furthermore, I compare the answer from interviews with prior research in the area of motivation and adult education.

An in-depth analysis is conducted of the semi-structured interviews done with the students who are either taking the course or have done priorly. Through this analysis certain factors were identified which affect the students motivation, either positively or negatively. These were: Prior experience of the subject, personal interest in the subject, the pedagogical approach of the course itself and finally the how goal oriented the student is/was. With these factors can function as a star of base for further research in how to plan the Interpreters Course, so that as many students as possible are able to keep their motivation throughout the course.
